MI vs RCB - IPL Match 1 Summary Review

The first match of IPL 2021 Started with Kohli winning the toss! Yeah, one of the rarest phenomenon. That’s how the innings progressed

MI started slow and steady. Loosing Rohit Sharma at 19 off 15 balls in 4th over was the first shock. From then on the pair of Chris Lynn and Suryakumar Yadav was unstoppable. Came in the new RCB bowler, Jamieson, and helped RCB in breaking the partnership and Surya departs at 32 in 23 balls. The big hitter, Chris Lynn fell to Washington Sundar missing his half century at 49 runs in 35 balls.

We now have 2 new batsman on the crease but those are Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, the two don’t take much time to settle and are among the big six hitters in the league.

Hardik Pandya fell for just 13 runs in 10 balls with MI 135-4 after 16th over. The big man Pollard joined Ishaan Kishan. But the partnership did’t go well as Ishaan Kisgan departed scoring 28 runs in 19 balls. Now, Harshal Patel has sent 2 power hitters, H Pandya and Ishaan Kishan back to the pavilion.

Krunal Pandya and Pollard batting together. The Jamieson’s ball broke Krunal Pandya’s bat and that too was a free hit ball. That’s what you expect from such an expensive buy.

Another Pandya brother and the big man Pollard fell to Harshal Patel back to back. What a day Patel had! Giving away just 1 run in last over with 3 wickets and a run out. MI finished at much lesser than expected.

INSANE 5 wicket haul. The first 5 wicket haul against Mumbai Indians

First Innings ended with MI scoring 159-9

Key Performers:

Mumbai Indians

Chris Lynn 49 of 35
SKY 31 of 23
Kishan 28 of 19

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Harshal Patel 4-27-5-6.8
Sunder 1-7-1-7
Siraj 4-22-0-5.5
Jamieson 4-27-1-6.8

The second innings began with Virat Kohli and Washington Sunder opening for RCB. No one expected Sundar to open. RCB had a quick start and was on roll until Sunder fell for 10 runs in 16 balls. The new IPL debutant came in, Rajat Patidar joined Kohli. The debutant departed for 8 runs in 8 balls.

Glen Maxwell AND Kohli on the crease. 46-2 after 6 overs.

Maxwell and Kohli built up a steady partnership taking RCB to 75-2 after 10 overs.

The big show, Maxwell, starts the 11th over with a 100 meter 6 to K Pandya. Finally, a six from Maxwell’s bat. The last six was on 27th of April in 2018.

50 runs partnership between Kohli and Maxwell.

And boom boom did his part. Kohli departs on 33(29).

ABD joins Maxwell.

Maxwell was on song until the debutant, Jansen striked. Maxwell departed at 39 off 28 balls. Shahbaz departs for just 1 off 2. 2 wickets in an over. Then followed by ABD show.

39 runs required of 24 balls. But Christian falls to Bumrah at 1 off 3 balls.

The match entered a close stage where Mumbai Indians made a comeback. But ABD still there to take RCB home. ABD did't spare any MI bowler and even Bumrah was uneffective. He hit the bowlers all around the park. Jamieson departed 4(4). It was an easy win for RCB from here but ABD got out at 48 off 27 balls and RCB required 2 off 2. Now that became a thriller IPL Opener. 1 of 1 and Harshal hit the final run. but the match which seemed to be on MI's side in the later stage didn't end on their side. RCB won and what an innings was that by ABD.

Key Performers
